PokerStars and Club Barrière have officially announced the cancellation of the highly anticipated European Poker Tour (EPT) Paris, initially scheduled for February 2025. This decision comes as a direct result of unforeseen changes in French regulations affecting gaming clubs in Paris.
French gaming clubs, established under a trial system in 2018, saw their operational framework extended until the end of 2024. However, the government declined to approve an additional extension, leaving these venues without the legal backing to operate further. Consequently, PokerStars had no choice but to cancel one of the most iconic stops on the EPT circuit.
“With great regret, we announce the cancellation of EPT Paris due to evolving French regulations beyond our control,” stated PokerStars. The organization is currently evaluating options to reschedule the event for a later date and is actively working with local authorities to establish a more stable regulatory environment.
This announcement is a significant disappointment for players who had planned to attend, drawn by the event's unique atmosphere and high-level competition. PokerStars has assured that they will contact all players who had purchased packages to provide detailed information about refunds and alternative solutions.
Despite this setback, PokerStars remains committed to the European Poker Tour and is exploring new locations and opportunities to sustain the excitement of the EPT. Players are encouraged to stay informed about future updates and to explore other international events in the meantime.
