Michael Zhang winner of best GUKPT London ever
The 21-year-old Nottingham resident becomes first champion of the Grosvenor Uk Poker Tour.
The 11th season of the GUKPT has turned into a record breaking edition. With the Pokerstars UKIPT no longer existing, Grosvenor UK Poker Tour has hit record breaking numbers with a field of 435 entrants and an outstanding prize-pool of £435.000 to share between the top 40 finishers.
The GUKPT usually gathers some of the best UK Poker players and this time was no exception with professionals such as Simon Deadman or Ross Boatman, amongst many others.
Yesterday the Final table was hosted at The Poker Room and was formed by Alexios Zervos, Paul Siddle, Sam Meeuse, Michael Zhang, Khoa Le, Javier Gomez Zapatero, Carl Pickles, Fah Bennani and Muskan Sethi.
The Spaniard Javier Gomez Zapatero was crucial as a executioner and send several players home. After Fah Bennani fell in 3rd place, the Heads-up was set.
Zapatero was quite short-stacked against Zhang (1,700,000 vs 7,000,000) and this proved to be too much of a gap. When Spaniard moved all in for 1 million Zhang called and that was it, Zhang became 2017 GUKPT London champion.
Official Final Table Results
|2||Javier Gomez Zapatero||£74,000|
|3||Fahd Bennani Smires||£48,900|
Grosvenor Uk Poker Tour will continue at Manchester Bury New Road next 26th February.
