Bingo Poker: the game that mixes bingo with poker

Poker is the most popular card game in the world. It has a large number of modalities and the corresponding variations within each one of them, but there are also other games derived from it that have become popular and that are of great interest to lovers of the card game king of strategy and chance. An example of these derivative games is Bingo Poker, a modality that mixes bingo and poker. In this article we are going to tell you about this curious and entertaining game that fuses both versions. We explain what Bingo Poker is and how to play it, as well as other questions of interest related to it. Read on for more information.

What is Bingo Poker?

Bingo Poker is a mixture of traditional bingo and the popular game of strategy and chance of poker. This game, despite what it may seem, is based exclusively on chance, since the strategy of poker or the mathematics of poker are not necessary in it. So, if we make a similarity between bingo and poker, we can compare the 90-ball drum of the original bingo game -from 1 to 90- with the poker cards -both individual and community cards-. Therefore, the functioning of Bingo Poker has characteristics more similar to those of bingo. In bingo, each player has a card with 15 numbers distributed in 3 rows that must be crossed off as the numbers come out of the ball, being able to call LINE -when the first of all the players completes one of these rows- or BINGO, when all the numbers are completed. The similarity with poker can be seen in having to discard the cards. This game is completely different to what we are used to seeing in poker.

How do you play Bingo Poker?

Playing bingo poker is very simple. In fact, all players can play this game without needing to have extensive poker experience or be a professional poker player. It is a game in which a maximum of 15 participants can take part, which is all it takes to deal the cards from the full deck of poker. Here are the rules for playing Bingo Poker:

  1. Three individual cards are dealt to each player and five community cards are dealt face down in the centre of the table. Each player then looks at their cards.
  2. The game continues when the dealer turns over the first card in the centre of the table so that all players can see it. Then, each player who has a matching card - with the same number - must discard it from their hand - or fold, as this action is also called. Note that no cards will be received again.
  3. The next thing that takes place is a betting round. This is initiated by the first player.
  4. Subsequently, the dealer turns over a second card and the same procedure takes place as before. The player who has a card with the same number discards it. This goes on for a total of 5 betting rounds - the equivalent of the 5 community cards.

Having explained how the game is played, it is important to make special mention of how the bets are resolved. You should bear in mind that in this form of poker the showdown can be of two types. Depending on whether you go to the highest or the lowest number. In either case, you should be aware of the following:

  • The number of cards: Players can have 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 cards, depending on whether they have discarded or not.
  • The face value of the cards: Keep in mind that kings are worth 13, checkers 12, jacks 11, then each card has its value, just like the numbers. Aces can have a value of 1 or 15, depending on what is established before the game starts.

Expression of Bingo Poker

Bingo Poker is a game that does not require any kind of strategy, as it is based solely on chance. It is for this reason that many poker players disregard the game. The expression bingo poker is often used by professional players who lose a hand against novice players, as a way of stating that the novice's success was just a matter of luck. So, when someone talks about bingo poker, they are referring to playing any card with little or no thought as to how much chance they have of winning a hand. In other words, he plays his cards practically at random. Generally, bingo poker players are those who have just arrived at the casino or gambling house and are just getting acquainted with the game. These players have the following characteristics:

  • They play a lot of hands.
  • They usually call a large number of hands raised by their opponents.
  • They play their chips more often than others.
  • They make larger bets than experienced players are used to seeing.

Other games that combine poker

Bingo poker is not the only form of bingo that combines this card game with another card game. We can find another version that combines poker with chess and that, in addition, has a great acceptance. This is Choker. In fact, in Choker we can find both novice players, as well as experienced players who have found in it a great attraction and an effective way to increase their stack.
